Katy Kianush’s World of Ballet: Capturing Grace, Elegance, and the Art of Dance

Katy Kianush’s “World of Ballet” collection captures her lifelong fascination with ballet, an art form that has intrigued her since childhood. Through these works, Katy explores the grace and elegance of ballet dancers, using her distinctive mixed media techniques. Her pieces incorporate pen and ink, acrylic washes, acrylic relief paints, and textured handmade paper, creating a layered effect that reflects the depth and complexity of ballet itself. Each line and stroke is chosen to convey the dancers’ fluidity and precision, while the textured surfaces add a sense of movement and dimension to the composition.

The colours and shades Katy selects are significant in portraying the mood and atmosphere of the dance. Subtle pastels suggest a sense of softness and lightness, while deeper hues evoke the intensity and drama of a performance. The use of warm tones, like golds and oranges, enhances the sense of warmth and vitality, reflecting the energy and passion of the dancers. By integrating lines, colours and textures, Katy captures the emotional depth of Ballet, and invites the viewer to experience the rhythm, strength, and elegance that define the world of dance.
