Description
In “Spirit of Ballet (ii),” Katy captures a delicate moment of connection between two ballet dancers. The male dancer, demonstrating both strength and grace, supports his partner as she leans back, her arm reaching elegantly towards the sky, embodying both trust and beauty. The use of pen and ink allows for fine detailing in their forms, while a soft acrylic wash envelops the scene in a gentle, warm light that enhances the intimate atmosphere.
The subtle accents of acrylic relief paints bring the floral embellishments on their costumes to life, creating texture that adds depth and interest. This thoughtful use of materials, coupled with the harmonious interplay of classic and contemporary techniques, creates a visually engaging piece that honours the art of ballet, as well as the emotion it conveys.
