Akkaashi – Bridging Nature and Digital Artistry
Welcome to the Akkaashi Gallery: a space where the natural world and digital expression converge through the pioneering vision of Mahmud Kianush.
In his late seventies, Kianush coined the term Akkaashi by blending the Persian words for photography (Akkaasi) and painting (Naghghaashi), defining a new art form that transforms natural textures — especially tree bark — into poetic visual meditations.
The gallery is arranged into four curated sections: Emergent Figures reveals glimpses of presence — human, animal, and spirit-like forms rising from bark; The Natural World celebrates nature’s quiet rhythms and the primal beauty of organic form; Beyond Colour explores the emotional language of pigment; and Metamorphosis traces the arc of transformation — from awakening to renewal.
Step into each section and discover a space where vision meets reflection; where the essence of nature is brought to light through digital artistry and poetic perception.
