Description
In this powerful Akkaashi, the weathered surface of bark gives rise to the form of a mother carrying her child upon her back. Her body appears slightly stooped, as though shaped by heat, labour, and the long journey home, yet the image radiates quiet strength rather than defeat.
The warm tones and rough textures evoke the harshness of sun, earth, and daily toil, while the emerging figures suggest an intimate bond between mother and child. The baby seems held close within the mother’s very form, protected by her endurance and presence.
Through the language of Akkaashi, Kianush transforms the bark’s scars and ridges into an image of human tenderness and resilience. What emerges is a universal vision of motherhood: burdened, protective, enduring, and life-giving.
