The Songs of Man

In 2012, Mahmud Kianush unveiled his third compilation of English poetry, “The Songs of Man“, marking another significant milestone in his literary journey.

Renowned for his profound exploration of the human condition, Kianush views poetry as the quintessential medium through which individuals grapple with their existence and unravel the enigmas of the world.

The poems in this collection, reflect this deep-seated belief, as his verses effortlessly navigate between the spiritual and the corporeal realms. With an exquisite blend of tenderness and precision, Kianush captures the essence of human experience, inviting readers to immerse themselves in a world where the boundaries between the physical and the metaphysical blur. Through his evocative language and nuanced imagery, Kianush beckons us to embark on a journey of self-discovery and introspection, where every word serves as a beacon illuminating the complexities of the human soul.

Memory of a Pond

The shadow of a butterfly
Hovering over the blue mirror
Of a quiet pond,
Will remain for eternity
In your eyes,

The Sun of the Red Rose

This morning
A freshly bloomed red rose
In my little garden
Sang greeting to my eyes.

Fishing the Moon

I am sitting on the edge of a lake,
Fishing the Moon,
With my playful eyes.

The Elegance of Meaning

If sometimes,
With your eyes suddenly filled
With the infinite blue of the sky,
You feel you can touch
The meaning of God’s silence,
Surely you possess the grace of life.
