Persian, Japanese & Chinese Miniatures: Explore Intricate Hand-Painted Worlds That Inspire

From a young age, Katy Kianush has been deeply engaged in the art of illustration and painting, particularly attracted to the detailed craft of “Miniatures.” Influenced by Japanese, Chinese, and Persian artistic traditions, her work is defined by its distinctive style, unique compositions, and attention to fine detail. Each piece showcases her high level of skill, with careful consideration given to every line and pattern.

In Persian culture, miniature painting is closely associated with poetry, often enhancing texts like the “Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam” with colorful and symbolic imagery. Katy builds on this tradition by incorporating rich symbolism and thoughtful details into her own work, capturing the depth of this artistic heritage.

Her range as an artist is also seen in her illustrations of Shakespearean plays, where she adapts her miniature techniques to Western subjects. By blending intricate lines with vibrant colours, she achieves a “Stained Glass” effect that bridges Eastern and Western influences. This fusion reflects her ability to move fluidly between different artistic traditions, underscoring her creativity and adaptability.
