From the book: “The Indian Green Parrot

In “The Little Butterfly“, Kianush delicately weaves a tapestry of words that capture the enchanting beauty of a butterfly resting on a flower. The imagery is vivid and tender, as the butterfly, with its delicate legs, gently grasps the flower, and its colourful wings, spread wide like a vibrant book under the warm sunlight. This poetic scene invites the reader, especially a child, to imagine themselves in the presence of this small, yet magnificently adorned creature. The butterfly’s wings, painted with a hundred patterns and colours, seem almost magical, and the child’s imagination is ignited as they picture the butterfly, both fragile and beautiful, fully engaged in the simple yet profound act of resting on a flower.

The gentle rhythm of the poem, combined with its evocative imagery, helps the child connect with the natural world, fostering a sense of curiosity and appreciation for the small yet extraordinary details in life. Through Kianush’s skilful use of language, the poem not only celebrates the beauty of the butterfly but also teaches children to slow down, observe, and find delight in the quiet moments of nature.
