A Poem from the Book: “Of Birds and Men”

With the smell of the sea
Mixed with my ancient blood,
I watch the diving birds
Picking the ripened fruits
From the exuberant bushes of the waves.

Feeling blissfully light and fresh,
My memory opens
To the faceless, forgotten lovers,
Whose ashes had been scattered
Over the sea.

After an adoring look
At the infinite blue,
I close my eyes,
And the darkness fills my mind
With immortal wings
And white blossoms.
