When Katy Kianush sets out to paint a landscape, she arms herself with a sketchbook and a camera, understanding that a compelling composition lays the foundation for a memorable painting. Being physically present in the chosen location is paramount to absorb the essence of the surroundings, engaging with them through touch, sight, and emotional response.
For Katy, the portrayal of light across varying times of day and seasons poses both the greatest challenge and the most profound satisfaction. Indeed, every aspect a painter contemplates: tone, colour, form, and space, is inevitably linked to the play of light. Katy’s affection for wildlife and animals permeates many of her works, reflecting her admiration for nature’s creations.
