The path is cracked and crumbling

and time has spun away.

Green leaves have turned to gold

and our brown hair turned to grey.

Your passion simmers like a pot

left too long on the boil.

Your heart which once did beat so strong

has been stifled by years of toil.

The love and trust you gave to me

was returned in equal measure.

So my love between us two,

we have years of memories to treasure.

We watched our children grow and thrive.

With pride we watch them stumble,

along the path of life we trod,

hoping they will not tumble.

If this is what life had in store,

I'm glad you lived it with me.

Your love has been my corner stone.

Your strength my protecting lee.
