After The Exhibition

On a cold frosty morning

in the hotel lobby,

where the fireplace is full of cinders

and the photographs wait

to be taken off the walls,

the guests in the hallway

smile sleepy sad farewells,

as they collect week-end cases,

and prepare to drive back to the city.

The theatre festival has ended

with many promises

waiting to be fulfilled,

while the created memories

are pushed back, to concentrate

on the five day week ahead.
