The sun is high

In a flaming sky

Looking down on a child

With tears in his eyes.

The world's slipping through his fingers

Like the grains of sand

He holds

With trembling hands.

Yet still he hears the music of ancient times

And the sound of the waves

That left him here

On this desolate shore.

How much more alone will he be

When he learns to fly

And why do I cry

For a world that just passes us by.
