Steel needles
silver, clean,
pierce skin
at points
ordained by
ancient sage.
Still as a cat
I watch
the needles'
slight tremor,
tiny aerials
transmitting ease
to painful sinew.
My western mind
kowtows
to this jade
of wisdom,
this meridian
encompassing
ancient east,
modern west,
to meet
in my left knee.
